Warranty conditions
Warranty Terms and Conditions of B&F Oberwerth GmbH & Co. KG
B&F Oberwerth GmbH & Co. KG, Friedrich-Mohr-Str. 13, 56070 Koblenz (hereinafter “Oberwerth”), provides consumers with a voluntary manufacturer’s warranty for its products in accordance with these terms and conditions. This warranty applies in addition to the statutory warranty. The statutory rights regarding defects against the seller remain unaffected by this warranty and are not limited by it.
Lifetime Warranty on Bags (99 Years)
Oberwerth offers a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship for all Oberwerth bags (excluding half cases, accessories, and care products).
“Lifetime” means: The warranty is valid for the lifetime of the person who purchased the product as the original owner and is non-transferable. Since the harmonized EU warranty label, in accordance with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960, requires the warranty period to be specified in years, the lifetime warranty is stated on the label and in these terms and conditions as having a term of 99 years from the date of purchase. The warranty ends upon the expiration of these 99 years or upon the death of the original purchaser, whichever occurs first.
The warranty begins on the date of purchase. During the first two years, it runs concurrently with the statutory warranty.
To be eligible for claims under this warranty, the product must be registered free of charge at www.oberwerth.com/pages/produktregistrierung within 8 weeks of purchase. To register, you’ll need the bag’s serial number and the receipt showing the purchase date. After successful registration, the customer will receive a warranty confirmation at the email address provided.
5-Year Warranty on Half Cases and Accessories
For half cases and accessories (e.g., camera straps, holsters, cases), Oberwerth provides a 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship, effective from the date of purchase. Registration is not required. To make a claim, simply provide your receipt showing the date of purchase.
Care products are excluded from the warranty.
Trade Show Merchandise
Products labeled as “trade show items” were displayed at trade shows or exhibitions and show minor signs of wear, as described in the listing. For trade show items sold directly by Oberwerth, the warranty under Section 1 or Section 2 applies in full. Excluded from this are signs of wear that were already present at the time of purchase and are noted in the listing, as well as the removal of such signs.
Scope of the Warranty
If the product has a defect in materials or workmanship within the warranty period, Oberwerth will, at its discretion, repair it free of charge or replace it with an equivalent product. If the model is no longer available, Oberwerth may offer a comparable model from its current product line.
Zippers: Defects in the zipper tape (e.g., broken teeth, loose tape) are also covered for the first two years from the date of purchase. After that, the warranty covers only the zipper slider. As a wear-and-tear part, the zipper tape is subject to normal wear and tear and is excluded from the warranty after two years.
Exclusions
The warranty does not cover:
- normal wear and tear and cosmetic changes, in particular patina, discoloration, fading, scratches, or changes to the leather caused by skin contact, light, moisture, or unsuitable care and cleaning products, as well as any resulting cracks or breaks in the leather;
- Damage caused by improper use, misuse, impact, dropping, contamination (e.g., moisture, sand, dust, dirt, leaking batteries), or transport;
- Damage caused or exacerbated by third parties or by improper repair attempts;
- Products to which changes have been made without Oberwerth's express permission;
- Products for which the model number or serial number has been removed, altered, or made illegible;
- Products purchased secondhand from private individuals (with the exception of trade show merchandise sold by Oberwerth as described in Section 3);
- Consequential damages of any kind, including, but not limited to, damage to cameras, lenses, and accessories; loss of data; travel expenses; loss of earnings; or fees.
Oberwerth is liable for damages only in accordance with mandatory statutory provisions, in particular the Product Liability Act.
Making a Warranty Claim
To make a warranty claim, please send the product to the address listed above, along with a description of the defect, proof of purchase, and—for bags—the warranty confirmation from your registration. Sending photos of the damage in advance via email to info@oberwerth.com will speed up the processing of your claim.
Warranty service is provided exclusively by Oberwerth in Koblenz. Costs for repairs performed by third parties will not be reimbursed.
Within the first two years from the date of purchase, Oberwerth covers the shipping costs for both outgoing and return shipments within Germany. After that, the customer is responsible for the cost of the outgoing shipment; return shipments within Germany are free of charge, while returns to other countries are charged at cost. Oberwerth recommends that you insure the shipment adequately.
If Oberwerth determines that a product sent in is not covered by the warranty, the customer will be notified and informed of the estimated repair costs. If the customer does not place a repair order within two weeks, the product will be returned unrepaired.
Scope of Application and Miscellaneous Provisions
The warranty applies worldwide to products sold to the original purchaser by Oberwerth or an authorized dealer. Warranty services are provided in Koblenz.
Please keep your receipt and warranty certificate in a safe place. Oberwerth does not issue duplicates.
The personal information provided during registration will be used exclusively to process the warranty and to communicate with the customer. For more details, please see our Privacy Policy.
Representations made by third parties—in particular, additional warranties provided by dealers—are binding only on the party that made them.
