Two types of leather to choose from
Each SL Bag® is available in two leather options. Our full-grain leather is a full-grain, thick leather that has been full-tanned, featuring light pigmentation and a natural full-tanned grain —it comes from a tannery that has achieved the highest rating, Gold, in the Leather Working Group’s (LWG) independent environmental audit, and features an almost natural surface with an exceptionally soft, warm feel.
The Hydro leather is treated to be water-repellent during the tanning process—it’s permanently water-repellent without losing its natural breathability: lightweight, durable, and ideal for everyday use and travel, it dries quickly and shows hardly any water marks. Both are natural and may feature subtle color variations or delicate lines from the leather’s grain, which give each bag its own unique character.

Full-grain leather is a warm, classic leather with an almost natural surface and a soft feel. Hydro leather is made permanently water-repellent during the tanning process—it’s lighter, more durable, and ideal for everyday use and travel. We offer a lifetime warranty on every handcrafted Oberwerth bag against defects in materials and workmanship. If there is a problem with the seams, fasteners, or leather that is due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace it. Normal signs of wear and tear that a natural product develops over the years are excluded from this warranty—they are part of the bag’s character.
The SL Bag® is available in four sizes, from S to XL—ranging from a compact solution for a camera body and a lens to a bag that holds your entire setup. It’s compatible with all Leica SL models as well as cameras of similar size, such as the Hasselblad X2D or Fujifilm GFX.
