Heritage leather is a handcrafted leather with a robust, open-pored character. Its surface is intentionally left untreated: you can see and feel the natural character of the hide—the fine grain, delicate lines, and small irregularities. These marks ensure that no two hides look alike.
It owes its durability to an elaborate double-tanning process that takes weeks to complete. This process gives the leather its firm, substantial feel. When new, Heritage leather feels firm and substantial to the touch; with every use, it becomes softer, more supple, and more personal.
Precisely because the surface is open-pored and untreated, small scratches or indentations often disappear on their own into the material. It’s usually enough to gently rub the area with the warmth of your hand. This way, the mark blends into the grain, without any additional tools.
Over the years, the leather darkens, developing a deeper, warmer color and its own patina. This makes every bag truly one-of-a-kind.
